Area veterans will be honored at a special Veterans Day event on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.

The event will take place on both the college’s Greenville and Sidney campuses. The live event is in room G129 in the Stanley P. Ash Technology and Learning Center (Ash TLC) on ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s Greenville campus and will be live-streamed in room D305 in the Beatrice E. Doser Building on ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s Sidney campus. A luncheon, catered by Candlestone, will be served at both the Greenville and Sidney campuses.

The program will begin with an introduction about Veterans Day, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Heather Coe, and a moment of silence to honor our veterans. Before our speaker is introduced, attendees will be invited to partake in a catered luncheon.

This year’s keynote speaker is ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ President Dr. Bradley J. Barrick. Dr. Barrick currently holds the position of chaplain within the Oklahoma Army National Guard, serving as an officer in the historically distinguished 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, denoted by the Thunderbird patch. In 2020, Chaplain Barrick was chosen to represent the National Guard at the Presidential Inauguration of Joe Biden in Washington, D.C. Chaplain Barrick is an esteemed member of the Order of St. Maurice and recipient of the Norwegian Foot March badge. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades for exemplary leadership and dedicated service, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Military Outstanding Service Medal, and two Army Achievement Medals.

Following his talk, Larry Moss will sing America the Beautiful. ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ student Drew Sawdy will conduct a roll call of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s employees, retirees, and emeriti who are veterans. Taps will then be played by a trumpet player Cullen Porter.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ began the annual Veterans Day assembly in 2007 with ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Emeritus Dean of Arts and Humanities Dr. Gary Hauck hosting.
