Five ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Students Advance to National BPA Conference

A group of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students attended the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Postsecondary State Leadership Conference at Davenport University’s Lettinga campus in Grand Rapids Saturday, Feb. 8.Ìý

Competing in multiple disciplines, five ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students were able to take home awards for their efforts and advance to the National BPA Conference.Ìý

Beth Armstrong (Vestaburg, Mich.) placed first in Advanced College Accounting and Managerial Accounting. Thomas Zinn (Vestaburg, Mich.) secured three awards, placing second in Device Configuration and Troubleshooting, third in Information Technology Concepts and fourth in Digital Communication & Design Concepts. Tim Moffit (Belding, Mich.) placed third in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts and fourth in Health Administration Concepts while Barbe Stevenson (Belding, Mich.) took second in Presentation Management.Ìý

Mary McQuarrie (Ionia, Mich.) submitted an entry to the BPA virtual event, Promotional Photography. During the presentation round, McQuarrie finished in the top ten finalists nationally. Additionally, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Computer Information Systems (CIS) Lab Coordinator, Kristen Diehl, was honored during the conference and awarded a certificate for her 15 years of service as a BPA advisor. Petra Mark (Lakeview, Mich.) also participated in the conference, finishing fifth in Prepared Speech. ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Business Instructor Bill Bishop, a fellow BPA Club advisor, also accompanied the group at the conference.Ìý

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ will be well represented at the National BPA Conference, with Armstrong, Zinn, Moffit, Stevenson and McQuarrie all scheduled to take part in the conference from May 7-11 in Orlando, Florida.Ìý

BPA is the leading Career and Technical Student Organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.Ìý
